PICTURE OF THE DAY!
The Triangulum Galaxy, or Messier 33, is a spiral galaxy about 3 million light years from Earth and part of the Local Group, which includes the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies. It contains 25 million stars in a 14,000 light year wide central region. Blue regions in the image highlight rapid star formation, with NGC 604, a prominent blue patch, being the largest star-forming region in M33 and one of the largest in the Local Group. With a bright apparent magnitude of 5.7, it is one of the most distant objects visible to the unaided eye.
